There’s no reason to be bored this summer! Huron-Clinton Metroparks Day Camps offer an exciting variety of programs for kids and teens that will not only keep their minds working during the warmer months, but also give them a lifelong appreciation for the great outdoors. Preregistration is required for all camps. Plan an adventure today:
LAKE ST. CLAIR METROPARK near Mt. Clemens
“Nature Day Camp – Meet the Animals,” Nature Center, Tuesday, July 24 – Thursday, July 26 from 10 am to 12:30 pm. Meet amphibians, reptiles and birds, and discover fun facts about them all. Hands-on activities and hikes will be a part of the program. For ages 7-10. Fee: $25 per child. For additional information or to register, contact the Nature Center at 586-463–4332.
“Fish Camp,” Nature Center, Tuesday, July 31 – Thursday, August 2 from 10 am to 2 pm. Children will get “hooked” on fishing at camp. Discover fun facts about Michigan fish through hands-on activities, learn fishing techniques, make a fish print T-shirt and try to catch a fish! Fishing rods are provided, or bring your own. Bring a lunch and a white T-shirt to make a fish print on your shirt. For ages 8-12. Fee: $60 per child. For additional information or to register, contact the Nature Center at 586-463–4332.
WOLCOTT MILL METROPARK, in Ray Township
“Farmer’s Camp,” Farm Center, Tuesday, July 24 – Thursday July 26 from 9 am to 3 pm. Campers will discover, hands-on, the wonders of life on the farm, and will help us with our daily farm chores. They will also go on a farm/conservation walk, make crafts, and learn basic horticulture skills. They will learn about horse care and go on a wagon ride. For ages 6-12. Fee: $75 per child. INDIAN SPRINGS METROPARK near White Lake
“Super Scientist Day Camp,” Environmental Discovery Center, Tuesday, August 7 – Friday, August 10 from 9:30 am to 2 pm. Be a modern-day explorer! Campers will become a different type of scientist each of the four days, trying experiments, making observations, using microscopes, doing “scientific” arts and crafts, and participating in other fun and games. OAKWOODS METROPARK near Flat Rock
“Boys’ Nature Camp,” Nature Center, Tuesday, August 7 – Friday, August 10 from 10 am to 2 pm. Join us for four full days of outdoor activities: hiking, birding, fishing, playing in the dirt and so much more. No girls allowed!! For ages 8-14. Fee: $125 per child. “Magnificent Micro Camp,” Nature Center, Wednesday, August 22 – Thursday, August 23 from 10 am to 2 pm. Go in search of those “no–see–ums” that live in the great outdoors. Microscopes, hand lenses and more will be used during this down–low and dirty program. For ages 8–14. Fee: $75 per child. LAKE ERIE METROPARK in Brownstown
“Moving Adventure Day Camp,” Marshlands Museum and Nature Center, Tuesday, July 24 – Friday, July 27 from 10 am to 3 pm. Children will explore the truth behind the science and history presented in movies. Young investigators will use crafts, play act, dress up and participate in hands-on fun. A Metroparks vehicle entry permit is required to enter any Metropark which is only $25 annually for regular admission, $15 annually for seniors, or $5 daily.
