About The Park
Escape your routine and the doldrums of everyday life with a rejuvenating visit to Willow Metropark. Conveniently located off I-275, just south of I-94, your sanctuary is minutes away with 1,531 beautiful acres of mature woodlands, scenic 17-acre Washago Pond and the picturesque Huron River. Play a round of golf on an 18-hole golf course, or master your ollie at the skatepark. Fish along on the Huron River or at Washago pond. Cross-country ski, ice fish or sled in the winter. Other Metropark features include a 4.5 mile hike-bike trail, a 24-hole disc golf course, a children's play area, tennis and shuffleboard courts. Just one visit will make Willow Metropark your all-season getaway.

Park Activities
Cycle along a winding, 4.5 mile, paved hike-bike path past mature woodlands, Washago pond and scenic views of the Huron River. The flat course connects to Lower Huron and Oakwoods Metroparks for a 30-mile ride, roundtrip.

Spend an afternoon on the 17-acre Washago Pond at Willow Metropark. Paddleboats and rowboats are available at the rental center. Private and gas boats are not permitted.

Play a pick-up game of three-on-three at basketball courts at Willow Metropark. Softball diamonds, volleyball courts and horseshoe pits are available throughout the park. Equipment for volleyball and horseshoes are available at Washago Pond and the Willow Foodbar. Limited equipment available upon request, $10 deposit.
Ski more than six miles of marked, groomed trails past snow-glazed fields, picturesque woodlands, and the Huron River. Trails at Willow Metropark radiate from the Ski Touring Center and extend to Oakwoods and Lower Huron Metroparks. The Ski Touring Center is open weekends and holidays, snow permitting, for ski rentals featuring a heated lounge and snacks. Contact the metropark office at 734-697-9l81 or 1-800-477-3182 for more information. Ski maps available are available at the Ski Touring Center, Oakwoods Nature Center and Lower Huron Park Office.
Challenge yourself to a game of disc golf on the 24-hole Willow Disc Golf Course. Play along a flat terrain with the longest hole over 700 feet. The course begins near the Acorn picnic area.
Relax and enjoy weekend summer entertainment programs and special events at the Willow Pool Activity Center. Activities are held inside during inclement weather.
Cast your line in the crisp water as you shoreline fish along the Huron River or Washago Pond. A serene, natural setting and wildlife viewing complete your experience. Common catches include bluegill, bass, perch and sunfish. Free fishing gear is available for loan to Metropark visitors.
A food bar is located near the swimming pool.
Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.
Geocaches are located throughout the Huron-Clinton Metroparks. If you wish to place a cache within a Metropark, see the rules, regulations, and site permit application.
Hit the links and perfect your game on the beautiful, tree-lined fairways at Willow Metropark. Play along this 6,378-yard, 18-hole regulation golf course with relatively flat terrain or practice your swing on driving range Conveniently located off I-275, just south of I-94, the golf course entrance is on Huron River Drive, just north of West Road. Club rental available. Special rates for seniors (over 62) and juniors (17 and under) weekdays only, except holidays.

Discover the sights and sounds of nature as you hike through Willow Metropark. Follow a winding, 4.5-mile paved trail past woods, waters and picturesque Washago Pond. Or, extend your journey further along the trail, which connects to Lower Huron Metropark to the north and Oakwoods Metropark to the south. The entire paved 15-mile hike/ bike trail through woodlands and the Huron River, connecting to Lower Huron and Oakwoods Metroparks. The footpath teems with wildlife with a chance to glimpse a white-tailed deer, fox or swans.

Practice your “180” and push your skills to the max at Willow Metropark skatepark. Perfect your technique on ramps, jumps, rails, stairs, quarter pipes, a grindbox and more. Separate days are designated for skateboarding/in-line skating or biking. Helmets are required and kneepads, elbow pads and wrist guards are recommended. The skatepark is open and attended by park staff from 10 a.m. – dusk, daily, during the summer through Labor Day. From Labor Day through November 1, and from April 1 through Memorial Day, the skatepark is open afternoons on weekdays, with longer hours on the weekend.
Dash down hills near Washago Pond and the Chestnut picnic area for hours of winter fun. The Ski Touring Center is open weekends and holidays, snow permitting, and features a heated lounge and snacks. Check this website for weather conditions. Snowboards are not permitted on either sled hill.
Cool off in the new swimming pool: glide down the family slide, play a game of water basketball or just soak in the shallow area while your kids run through the water.

Do you have a beach?
Willow Metropark does not have a beach; please try our newly renovated swimming pool.
Do you have a wave pool?
Our pool is not a wave pool. Please try the wave pool at Lake Erie Metropark.
Are alcoholic beverages allowed in the park?
Beer and wine are permitted (no hard liquor). Alcohol of any kind is not permitted around the pool area. During special park events, beer and wine may be permitted near the pool. Contact the Lower Huron Park Office in advance. Certain alcohol ban dates may apply, please contact the park for details.
Are ground fires or bonfires allowed?
Only fires in grills are allowed.
Does my dog have to be on a leash?
All pets must be on a leash no longer than six feet.
