| PARK AMENITIES
Lake Erie Metropark, a 1,607-acre recreational facility, features a panoramic view of Lake Erie along its three-mile shoreline. This park is a top bird-watching site, and an abundance of wildlife and waterfowl inhabit the meadows, marsh and lagoons. Park features include a wave action swimming pool, an 18-hole regulation golf course, a museum and nature center, boat launches and a marina. The children's play area features a child-size town. |

| BIRDING
One of the premier hawkwatching sites in North America, Lake Erie Metropark is host to migrating waterfowl in the spring and fall, and birds of prey in the fall. Hawkfest, an annual birding festival celebrating the migration of birds of prey, is held in September. Nature interpreters maintain a park bird species list. Birding programs include hawk and duck identification programs and bird walks. |

| BOATING AND LAUNCHING
A 12-boat ramp offers quick access to the Detroit River and Lake Erie, prime walleye country. Enter the park through the main entrance on West Jefferson, just north of Huron River Drive, to access the boat launch. Open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Metropark Vehicle and Boat Launch permits required. |

| MARINA
The marina, located at the end of Lee Road, is open April through October. Over 100 wells, all with water and electricity, available for seasonal dockage. Daily transient dockage also available for boats up to 30 feet in length (phone in advance for availability). Dry storage May through October. Marina hours Memorial Day through Labor Day 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. Reduced hours prior to Memorial Day and after Labor Day. |

Shoreline fishing is available throughout the park. Free fishing poles are available for loan at the Marshlands Museum and nature center. Spearing and bow and arrow fishing are prohibited. |

| GOLF
This 6,500-yard, 18-hole, par 72 course is surrounded by natural wetlands and features gently rolling, bunkered fairways and 20 acres of ponds. Beer and wine sold at the starter building; no coolers allowed. Entrance on Lee Road, east of Jefferson, one mile south of Huron River Drive. Driving range. | HIKING
Almost three miles of trails radiating from the Marshlands Museum and Nature Center take hikers along the Lake Erie/Detroit River shoreline and through coastal marshes and dense hawthorn thickets. A long boardwalk and several overlooks along the trails provide excellent views of marshes, lagoons and resident wildlife. Flat terrain. |

| ICE FISHING
Ice fishing is at the marina November through March, as ice conditions permit. Due to warm water currents, ice fishing along the Lake Erie shoreline is not recommended. |

| MARSHLANDS MUSEUM AND NATURE CENTER
This facility features exhibits on the waterfowl hunting tradition, folkways and marsh ecology. A 1,300-gallon aquarium showcases regional fish species. Several miles of nature trails traverse the coastal marsh, lakeshore and thicket areas. No pets allowed on trails. School and group educational programs by appointment. Meeting room available for local organizations. School season hours: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends. Summer hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. | PICNICKING
Picnic areas, play areas and picnic shelters are located near the pool complex and at the Cove Point Picnic Area. Groups of 50 or more are requested to register in advance. Shelters may be reserved for a fee. For reservations and registrations contact Park Office. |

| SWIMMING
The "Great Wave", a wave-action pool, adds three-foot rollicking waves for wet summer fun. Hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Hours may be reduced from mid-August through Labor Day. Swim suit with liner required. |
