SEPTEMBER INTERPETIVE EVENTS

“Weekend Walk – Goldenrods,” Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7 at noon, Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Enjoy the glory of summer’s end during this guided walk. Pre-registration required.

“Just for Homeschoolers – Survivor 1,” Thursday, September 11 at 1 p.m., Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Find out how to prepare for the worst-case scenario and how to find food and water. Pre-registration required.

“Second Saturdays – Tree Adventures,” Saturday, September 13, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Enjoy free crafts, snacks and a family program. Pre-registration required for groups of 10 or more.

“Webelos – Forester,” Sunday, September 14 at 1 p.m., Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Search for trees, plants, and animals that live in the forest. Learn how trees are more than just a tall plant. Pre-registration required.

“Autumn Cleanup,” Saturday, September 20, noon to 2 p.m., Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Help give the woods a boost and enjoy a picnic as a reward. Pre-registration required.

“Hike by Bike – Fall Color,” Sunday, September 21 at noon, Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Bring your bike to see the island’s changing colors during this guided bike ride. Pre-registration required.

“Just for Homeschoolers – Survivor 2,” Thursday, September 25 at 1 p.m., Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Find out how to prepare for the worst-case scenario and learn what to put in an emergency kit. Pre-registration required.

“Brownies – Plants Try-It,” Sunday, September 28 at 1 p.m., Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Explore the life of plants through hand-on activities. Pre-registration required.

OCTOBER INTERPETIVE EVENTS

“Weekend Walk – Harvests,” Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5 at noon, Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Enjoy a guided walk and a closer look at this ‘time of plenty’ in the forest. Pre-registration required.

“Just for Homeschoolers – Survivor 3,” Thursday, October 9 at 1 p.m., Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Find out if you are prepared for the worst case scenario. Learn how to build a shelter. Pre-registration required.

Second Saturdays – Spiders,” Saturday, October 11 at 1 p.m., Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Join the fun and enjoy free crafts, snacks and a family program. No registration necessary for groups with less than 10.

Webelos – Naturalist,” Sunday October 12 at 1 p.m., Belle Isle Nature Zoo. All badge requirements will be fulfilled during this indoor/outdoor program. Pre-registration required.

“Just for Homeschoolers – Survivor 4,” Thursday, October 23 at 1 p.m. Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Find out if you are prepared for the worst case scenario. Discover how to find your way home. Pre-registration required.

“Hike by Bike – Rivers,” Saturday and Sunday, October 25 and 26 at noon, Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Bring your bike and enjoy the blue water view during this guided ride. Pre-registration required.

“Boo at the Nature Zoo,” Thursday and Friday, October 30 and 31, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Enjoy two days of trick-or-treating with the animals of Belle Isle. Wear your costumes and bring your goody bags. Nature-themed Halloween treat stations, special ‘harvest’ deer encounters, pumpkin paths and cider and donuts are all part of the not-so-scary good fun at the Belle Isle Nature Zoo.
