Make Your Summer Memorable at Your Metroparks

It’s no secret that this summer looks different than any other before it. This Fourth of July holiday weekend is sure to look different as well – but your Metroparks have what you need to make it just as memorable.

The night sky above your Metroparks won’t lite up with color this year because we have canceled our annual fireworks displays out of an abundance of caution against large groups gathering in the parks. We are dedicated to keeping you safe, practicing safe social distancing and following the guidelines for events, but there is still plenty you CAN do this weekend!

This year, as we celebrate Independence Day, enjoy the sights on a hike or let the wind hit your face as you coast down the hike-bike trail or catch some sun at your favorite beach. You can work on your swing on the golf course or spend the afternoon grilling up something yummy at a family picnic.  Throw some discs at the disc golf course or visit the farm center animals.

If it’s sunshine and water you seek, take a dip in the lake at Maple and Martindale Beaches in Kensington Metropark, Eastwood and Baypoint Beaches at Stony Creek Metropark and the beach at Lake St. Clair Metropark. Splash pads are now open at Kensington, Indian Springs and Lake St. Clair Metroparks. So are the pools at Lake St. Clair and Willow Metroparks.

The wave pool at Lake Erie Metropark, the pool at Lake St. Claire Metropark and the Turtle Cove Aquatic Center at Lower Huron Metropark remain closed while staff complete maintenance and improvement projects and train lifeguard staff.
