Family Nature Hike

Let’s take a hike! Our family hiking program is designed for families with young children- we’ll explore the natural world together, investigating seasonal happenings through the lens of our littlest learners. These hikes will focus on exploration, discovery, and the joys of nature rather than covering long distances. Come join the fun!

April 19 – Family Nature Hike: Frogs
May 17 – Family Nature Hike: Powerful Pollinators
June 21 – Family Nature Hike: Seeds on the Move
July 19 – Family Nature Hike: Wiggly Worms
August 17 – Family Nature Hike: Insect Songs
September 20 – Family Nature Hike: Fall Flowers
October 18 – Family Nature Hike: Lichens & Mosses
November 15 – Family Nature Hike: Talkin’ Turkeys
December 20 – Family Nature Hike: Winter Birds

What to Expect:
This program starts indoors, ends outdoors. A hike of between ¼ mile and 1 mile will take place along mostly compact gravel trails. This hike will be slower to accommodate the interests of young children. A group interactive activity or game with instructions may be involved.

Ages: Children 2 – 8. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Time: 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Cost: $3 per child, adults are free
Location: Stony Creek Metropark, Nature Center

Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. one day before the program.
